GPS Medical Debuts Blog for Ultrasound Opinions and Reviews
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) May 21, 2007 -- Ultrasound dealer GPS Medical, Inc., opened a slice of its internal workings to the world when it posted a blog of its opinions and usability reviews of diagnostic ultrasound machines. The blog, written by company President Brian Gill, discusses various features about the ultrasound and his opinion of the good and bad points of the ultrasound.
"We've been doing this for our own benefit for many years now, offering little bits on our website," said Gill. "We decided to make it public and let people see what we're doing and what we're thinking. We work with so many different ultrasounds and are able to get a very unique view. Who wants to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a piece of equipment without some sort of objective opinion?"
The blog, found at http://gpsmedical.typepad.com focuses on various aspects of the business, with its main focus on evaluating usability and quality of systems on the new and used ultrasound market. When relevant, it also addresses the reliability and service issues of the ultrasound or will list other relevant news events such as recalls.
The series began with a quick look of the latest equipment to the ultrasound market, particularly 3D/4D cardiac and obstetric ultrasounds because there are so many of them hitting the market lately. "It's hard for the consumer to really know what the difference is without talking to someone about it. That's how we've always operated and we thought it would be a good idea to let the doctors and sonographers read some of our current opinions. Obviously, we can't answer all their questions, but this will give them a peek and we've been adding video to the GPS Medical website to show them what the manufacturer's brochure doesn't."
Gill chose not to make it a part of the company website to show that it has a bit more of an objective appeal, although he said visitors will typically need to click on a link to the GPS Medical website in order to view any of the included videos.
"Right now we're working more on the portable hand carried ultrasound market," Gill said. "The industry is full-steam ahead in the portable ultrasound market, and some manufacturers are being forced to play catch-up with players like Sonosite and GE, who really dominate the market."
